Ein adeliger, Bankrott gegangener Franzose landet in Amerika, wo er reich zu werden hofft. Da Jules de Barton erfolglos nach Arbeit sucht und zu allem bereit ist, um Geld zu verdienen, entschließt er sich widerwillig, auf das seltsame Angebot des undurchschaubaren Doktor Nicholson einzugehen: der Graf soll ohne weitere Erklärung eine Scheinehe mit einer reichen Erbin eingehen und sie dann um ihren wertvollen blauen Diamanten leichter machen, um schließlich eine unerhoffte hohe Summe einzukassieren… (europafilmtreasures.de)
