Vera Schlink führt mit ihrem Mann Hannes eine Investmentfirma in Wien. Ein erfolgreiches Paar, das mit der achtjährigen Tochter Paula auch privat glücklich ist. Bis Kurt Matzinger auftaucht und mit ihm die Vergangenheit, die Vera für endgültig abgelegt hielt. Kurt erpresst Vera mit Fotos aus ihrer Zeit in einem Hamburger Bordell, von der sie ihrem Mann nie erzählt hat. Er will nicht nur Geld, sondern drängt sich immer weiter in ihr Leben. Vera vertraut sich nur ihrer Nachbarin Melli an, die ihr rät, Kurt abzufinden. Zunächst nimmt er das Geld. Doch als er auch ihre Familie gefährdet, beginnt Vera sich zu wehren. Sie kämpft um ihre Existenz - und wenn es sein muss, wird daraus ein Kampf um Leben und Tod. (ARD Presse)
