Die aufkeimende Freundschaft zweier ungleicher Nachbarn erfährt eine tragische Wendung, als David eine Frau anfährt und tödlich verletzt. Auf Drängen Roberts begeht er Fahrerflucht. Während Robert hofft, den neuen Nachbarn damit endgültig an sich binden zu können, wird David von Schuldgefühlen zerfressen. Als er Vanessa, die Schwester des Opfers, kennenlernt, glaubt er, seinen Fehler wieder gut machen zu können. Doch er hat nicht mit Robert gerechnet.
