Planet Erde im Jahre 2018: Längst beherrschen die multinationalen Konzerne das Geschehen - es herrscht die totale Überwachung und Lenkung. "Rollerball" ist das neue Spiel, in welches die Konzerne ihre modernen Gladiatoren schicken - die Meisterschaft erstreckt sich über die ganze Erde.
Einer der Stars ist Jonathan - seine Beliebtheit wächst von Spiel zu Spiel, und dies ist den Konzernbossen ein Dorn im Auge. Jonathan beginnt, sich Fragen zu stellen, und deshalb wird er für die Konzerne gefährlich. Man versucht ihn, zum Rücktritt zu bewegen, aber Jonathan widersetzt sich. Jetz soll er im Endspiel zwischen Houston und Tokyo beseitigt werden, einem Spiel, in welchem alle Regeln aufgehoben sind... (lhg)
