Synopsis in German
Haroun Al Raschid, der Kalif von Bagdad, konnte zwar seinen Bruder Kamar Al Zaman daran hindern, ihn vom Thron zu stürzen, doch dem Verräter gelingt die Flucht. Im Kampf wird Haroun verletzt, aber der Akrobat Ali Ben Ali und seine Freunde retten und verstecken den Kalifen vor seinen Verfolgern. Dabei macht Haroun auch die Bekanntschaft der liebreizenden Scheherazade, in die er sich sofort verliebt. Durch eine List des cleveren Ali geht man mittlerweile in ganz Bagdad davon aus, dass Haroun tot ist, und so wird Kamar zum neuen Herrscher ernannt. Auch der neue Kalif ist Scheherazade verfallen, und da die hübsche Frau schon immer von einem sorgenfreien und prunkvollen Leben geträumt hat, folgt sie einer vermeintlichen Einladung in den Palast.
