She was married to Marco Vicario. Rossana Podestà died on December 10, 2013 in Roma. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1982.

Rossana Podestà wurde vom französischen Regisseur bei einem Casting für den Film Domani è un altro giorno, ein Film der am Beginn einer Karriere, vor allem in den Fünfziger und Sechziger Jahren, mit gut sechzig Filmen stand. Zu ihren internationalen Erfolgen zählen die Hauptrollen in Robert Wises Helen of Troy (1956) und Robert Aldrichs Sodoma and Gomorrha (1961). Ihre letzte Filmrolle spielte Rossana Podestà 1985 in Segreti segreti von Giuseppe Bertolucci.
Die Schauspielerin war von 1953 bis 1976 mit dem Regisseur Marco Vicario verheiratet. Von 1981 bis zu dessen Tod lebte sie mit dem Bergsteiger und Journalisten Walter Bonatti abwechselnd in Rom und in der Provinz Sondrio. [lhg 2013]
