Synopsis in German
Mit dem Geld kommt meistens die Exzentrik, so auch bei dem MultimillionĂ€r Ezra Ounce (Hugh Herbert). WĂ€hrend sich bei den meisten Reichen der Spleen allerdings in einem kostspieligen Lebensstil und dem Hang zu attraktiven Damen Ă€uĂert, hat sich Ezra zu einem Extrem-Moralisten entwickelt, der moderne Frauen und Ausschweifungen jeglicher Art verabscheut und auch in seiner Familie nicht duldet. Da seine Nachkommen eher normal geraten und den schönen Dingen des Lebens nicht abgeneigt sind, hat Ezra sie bereits alle enterbt - bis auf seinen Cousin Horace (Guy Kibbee), der erfolgreich vorgibt, ein streng religiöser und hochmoralischer Mann mit einer ebensolchen Familie zu sein. In einem Anfall von GroĂzĂŒgigkeit will der exzentrische Ezra dem scheinbar so tugendhaften Horace zehn Millionen Dollar als eine Art Erbschaftsvorgriff schenken. Allerdings will er sich vor Ort von der Sittsamkeit seines Cousins und dessen Familie ĂŒberzeugen. Hier fangen die Probleme an: Horaces Tochter Barbara (Ruby Keeler) hat ein VerhĂ€ltnis mit ihrem bereits enterbten Cousin Jimmy (Dick Powell), der durch seine Leidenschaft fĂŒr Musicals bei Ezra in Ungnade gefallen ist. Und Horace selbst bekommt stĂ€ndig ungebetenen Besuch in seinem Schlafzimmer: Das freche Showgirl Mabel (Joan Blondell), ein echtes Luder, setzt den gar nicht so tugendhaften Horace gehörig unter Druck, um Geld fĂŒr Jimmys erstes Musical zu erpressen. SpĂ€testens beim gemeinsamen Besuch der Premiere dieses StĂŒcks wird der strenge Ezra ein ganz neues Bild seiner Lieblingsverwandten bekommen... (ARD Presse)
