Nun kehrt sie mit ihrem ersten Langspielfilm zurück. «Das Fräulein» beschreibt mit selten gesehener Einfühlsamkeit die komplexe Situation der Menschen aus Ex-Jugoslawien, die sich in Zürich niedergelassen haben - hin- und hergerissen zwischen ihrem Alltag in der Schweiz und ihrer Erinnerung an eine häufig tragische Vergangenheit, von der sie nichts mehr wissen wollen. Mit ihrem Film zeichnet Andrea Staka aber auch ein berührendes Porträt von drei Frauengenerationen und stellt dabei Menschen ins Zentrum, die weit weg von zu Hause wohnen - sei es, weil sie zur Emigration gezwungen waren oder weil sie in der Zwischenzeit ihre Heimat verloren haben.» (Locarno 2006)
