Ein kleiner Junge versucht, ihn erst zu berauben, bringt dann aber frischen Wind in sein Leben. Der Diplomat, der sich durch das schwierige Leben des Jungen angezogen fühlt, nähert sich dessen Welt von Tag zu Tag mehr. Zwischen den beiden entsteht ein Vater-Sohn-Verhältnis - eine Beziehung, die von aussen aber mit viel Argwohn beobachtet wird. Tsintsadze, der mit seinem Film «Schlussangst» 2003 in San Sebastián ausgezeichnet wurde, schneidet auch in «Der Mann von der Botschaft» das Thema Einsamkeit an.» (Locarno 2006)
