Sommaire (en Allemand)
Bessie Allen, a girl of the slums, dances in the streets of the Lower East Side of New York to the delight of the crowds. She becomes an orphan when her father, in a drunken stupor, kills her mother, and then himself. Bessie is knocked down by the car of Mrs. Latham, a society matron, who takes an interest in the girl and procures her a job as a dress model. Attracted by her talent and beauty, Joseph Abrams hires Bessie as a dancer in his cabaret, where she is seen by theatrical agent Shirley Martin. Bessie's Broadway debut is a success, but Mrs. Latham, jealous of Martin's attentions towards the girl, resolves to ruin her reputation. She does this by registering the two in a hotel as a married couple and then contacting Martin's father, who rushes to the scene and orders Bessie to stay away from his son. Bessie goes away sadly, but when the elder Martin realizes that the two are in love, he finds Bessie and reunites the young couple.
